Isabella offers a variety of services and amenities to residents. Room features include in-room cable TV, safety and handicap fixtures, in-suite kitchenettes, and on-call maintenance. Also offered are a communal dining hall, landscaped grounds, wifi, an on-site beautician, along with other facility features.
Personal Services
Pastoral Care at Isabella offers a wide diversity of services and programs to meet each resident’s denominational needs and preferences. Located in Northern Manhattan, our Isabella offers the experience of living in a community where residents and staff cultivate the deep bonds that come from knowing each other very well. Isabella's state-of-the-art ventilator unit provides acute respiratory assistance to residents whose health needs require it, with an emphasis on weaning residents off ventilators. We have 20 certified ventilator beds, 16 respiratory transition beds and a specially trained, inter-disciplinary team of professionals to treat, monitor and assist each resident.
The meals that they serve are pretty appetizing. They also provide her TV and everything, so it is great. They do a lot of things as far as the movies and stuff like that. My older brother is currently a resident in the nursing home, and is in the final stage of Parkinson's. I have never seen any kindness or quality care given my brother since he arrived.
Live An Active Life At Isabella House
Today, Isabella is a large complex offering a diversity of services. Isabella offers nursing home care, memory care, and independent living. The facility is a good alternative for seniors who need a high level of attention and full-time medical care. Also, they can accommodate seniors who are living with memory loss and who have difficulty with day-to-day activities, and who need special support on a regular basis. Additionally they can offer care to residents who are independent but also desire a hassle-free lifestyle with services like on-site maintenance, housekeeping, and community activities.
It was apparent that their nursing staff was incompetent and unable to provide even straightforward care. Given my experience, I would sincerely and strongly advise that you not consider Isabella for yourself or your loved one. Isabella is committed to supporting the well-being of our community by providing access to education resources and opportunities for growth. To that end, we offer two free training programs and the prospect of employment upon successful completion of the program.
Village Care Rehab and Nursing Center
Isabella's Home Care program, free Home Health Aide training and other community programs are run at the 5073 Broadway campus. Great rehab center, clean, helpful, friendly staff, they need faster elevator but appreciate the care they gave my grandma. Isabella offers a free program that trains individuals to work as New York State Certified Nurse’s Aides within a medical setting. The NORC works with other local providers and community organizations to address the needs of the seniors in this vibrant community with its lively Latino heritage and mixed ethnic population. Educational seminars and counseling on issues in health care, finance, and legal matters such as health care proxies, etc.
Ten students are admitted to each training program. Graduates of our program are free to work anywhere. Many CNAs become employees of Isabella Geriatric Center or other medical facilities within our community. And when the time comes, we can also provide palliative and hospice care. We understand the added responsibility of caring for a loved one, that is why we also offer respite care for caregivers who are unable to provide care for short periods of time. The House provided independent living for approximately 250 aged residents. This affordable housing residence for the well elderly was a new concept in institutional care for the aged. Yet at no time did they call a doctor for me. On Sunday night, they called an ambulance to take me to an ER. I was hospitalized for 7 days and the whole time, my Dr. kept muttering "this shouldn't have happened". She made it clear that my hospitalization could have been avoided had the staff been "on top of it". When I was released, I went to a different facility, which was equally depressing but had a strong PT program. Learning recently of the scandal surrounding Isabella connected with their failure to disclose how many had died there of covid19, I wasn't the least surprised.
Some private rooms may be available but are subject to a waiting list. Isabella has been in operation for 47 years and they're licensed with Medicaid as well as Medicare. They received a total score of 4/5 stars in the latest Medicare rating, based on a collective criterion of all-around quality, safety investigations, and personnel reviews. Within the latest period, they had 1 complaint filed, 0 payment denials, 0 fines applied, 0 total penalties applied, and 3 deficiencies reported.
Residents who wish to bring pets to live with them in Isabella House must comply with the Isabella House Pet Policy. I wish that they had doctors who were smarter and not judgmental and able to communicate better with patients and families, it seems like the CNA are the only one caring. Bed bound patients who needs total assistance suffer from starvation due to short of staff, hire more CNA to have more help. Patient with severe conditions who are in needs should never go to this place. Located in the heart of the community, Isabella Center offers unique career experiences.
The place is operating at a severe deficit in staffing. The staff is for the most part great but they can only do so much with the staff to patient ratio. In order to keep the residents healthy, the facility relies a great deal on volunteers and family members to help keep the residents company, keep the residents from depression and feed the residents .
Isabella is a little pricey, and it doesn’t fit my preference because I am still very high functioning, but it’s a very nice place. The staff was very professional and very informative as to what they have to offer. They have recreational and social activities.
